The social media app, Vine, has been around for a long time and Twitter has been quite successful with letting people share six second videos. Vine has allowed people to share funny videos and most likely become famous because people know who they are when they create their infamous videos. There has been many vines around that made us laugh, cry, sing/dance along or just make us think about what our lives our really like.
However, it all seems that the creative time is now coming to end because Twitter has just announced that in the next few months, they would be deleting the app. This may be sad because people won't be able to share and create videos just like they used to, they will still be able to see the existing videos on the web.
Some of the executive members of the company did begin to notice that Vine would start its die out process when Instagram released its video feature back in 2013. "Instagram video was the beginning of the end," one executive states. "Vine didn't move fast enough to differentiate." There is also the popular Snapchat app which allowed people to share 10 seconds worth of video to the world by having them view their stories. With the other apps competing over each other to see how many people would use each app, it was hard for people to keep up with all of the apps.
With all of the executives coming together to create new ideas on how to improve the app, this was probably the main reason why they failed to make any more money. Brands were happy to pay Vine stars to make ads and share the videos to their millions of followers. After Snapchat and Instagram grew significantly in the number of users that they have been having, then the marketers' interest in Vine dropped significantly.
Twitter executives were even talking about bringing a new feature of people having the ability to record short second videos for people to upload on Twitter via their mobile devices. With these new changes in mind and some of them beginning to take toll on some apps that people already use on their mobile devices, the company felt like now would be the appropriate time to get rid of the app.
I know that I didn't use the app, but I did enjoy going on YouTube to look up compilations of vines done by certain vine celebrities or the vines that fell underneath a specific category. I feel like this is what most people ill do with their vine videos before they are deleted from the app forever when it's gone from the app stores. They may also rely on other social media sharing apps such as Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube to make videos about a particular category. People shouldn't really worry about the app being gone because there are always other apps that people can use in order to share what is going on in their daily lives; that's really what social media is all about.
