Dear future husband,
I am writing this to you at the age of 18 years old. I'm not sure if I have met you yet but I just wanted to tell you a few things.
To start, I am definitely not an expert on romantic love and I’ve never been in love before so therefore I have no personal experience but, I am surrounded by love and I believe that is enough to be able to tell you what I am thinking about our love in the future.
Growing up, my dad has always been my valentine, and he will always continue to be. Yes, this will be the one guy you can’t compete with. My dad never made the day feel different except for the fact that I would get chocolate and flowers. The gift-giving grew on this day but my dad's love for me stayed unconditional, just as it was everyday.
But also, as I grew up, I watched Valentines Day become more and more materialistic. What I was seeing was objects of love - chocolates, bears, flowers - being posted on social media but no true acts of love being performed. Valentine's Day is a day full of romance. But, please make me feel like I am able to be romantic with you on any day of the year. I promise I will do the same.
So my future husband, I am asking you one thing. Please love me like everyday was Valentine’s Day. But, a stuffed teddy bear on Valentine's Day wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Love,
Your future wife
