First of all, Ebola is not a guaranteed death sentence… so
that’s good news.
What is it: Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is an often-fatal illness that is spread from wild animals to humans.
How does it spread: Making out. Well, not just making out. EVD is spread in humans by direct contact with bodily fluids. Cuts, saliva, sneezes, organs, blood, etc.Symptoms:a bad hangover + the chills
- fever
-fatigue
-sore throat
-muscle pain
-headache
-vomiting
Treatment:none. Sadly, hopes and dreams cannot cure Ebola and neither can any medicine. Liquids, rest, and treatment of the symptoms can help improve your chances of survival but as of now there is no available treatment.
Prevention: keep your body fluids to yourself. The incubation period is anywhere from 2-21 days, therefore you may be contaminated but not be showing any symptoms at first. The best way to prevent the spread of EVD is to lock yourself in your room and wait until it passes. The second best way to prevent it is to not bandage anyone’s cuts or make out with the cute stranger at the bar.
Where are all the infected people hanging out?
Special shout out to Dallas for biting the bullet and being the first hospital to take a patient with Ebola.
Currently Emory University Hospital, Nebraska Medical Center and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital are the only medical facilities welcoming infected patients. However, hospitals all around the country are prepping and stoking up on supplies preparing for a possible outbreak.
In summary: Now would not be the time to swap spit with a wild animal or someone who has recently been to Africa and if you have, Atlanta has nice fall weather and a great hospital willing to help you out with that.
