All beloved pet owners will know this feeling eventually, and it's a heartache that I don't wish on anyone. Whether you're standing with them as they take their last breath, or you get the dreaded phone call from a family member to hear the tragic news. It all hurts the same.
I remember the day he came into our lives like it was yesterday. My family and I went over to our neighbor's house to play with the new puppies that they were breading. There was one out of the bunch that definitely stood out. He was the smallest, and his name was Tigger at the time. While my brother and I were playing with him, I remember my mom saying, "so do you want to take one of them home?" I was so excited that I started to jump up and down, just like Tigger. There was no question that he was the one.
Brady "Boo" Boyd was a wonderful spirit. He was terrified of thunderstorms and every one of the male species, besides the ones in our little family of course. But if you were lucky enough to break through the frightened exterior, he was the best cuddle buddy ever. Every single time I walked through the front door, I was greeted with sniffs and happy barks, and it was definitely the best part of my day.
He loved his baby sister, Molly, so much. Sometimes when a family decides to add a pup to the mix, the older dog starts to feel some jealousy. But within a few days of bringing Molly home, they were both running around as if they were actually brother and sister. They were instantly partners in crime.
It feels like a part of our family is missing, but I know Brady is in a better place now. To me, that's all that matters. He is deeply missed, and no one can ever replace him. Rest in peace my furry best friend, Brady Boyd. I will love you and miss you forever.
