4 Funny Books to Warm Your Soul This Winter

Ah, winter. The snow falling and fireplace roaring can seem magical, but when the snow becomes slush and you can't find your fuzzy socks, winter can be dreary. Grab any of these funny stories off the shelf and brighten up your day.

"Mother, Can You Not?" by Kate Siegel

Based off of her insanely popular Instagram account @crazyjewishmom, Kate Siegel discusses growing up with her overbearing and neurotic mother. The stories make you want to both laugh and cringe. This will definitely make you feel a bit better about that one time your mom embarrassed you in middle school.

The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer

While you'll definitely laugh with Amy as she takes you along on her crazy rides, you'll be unexpectedly touched by the serious and the sad that she has gone through. Amy has had plenty of experiences and plenty to teach us because of it.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler

Amy has a lot of insight to offer us. From losing to the moon, from Tina Fey to Parks and Rec, Amy covers it all. She's been through life and she has learned from life. While very humorous, what we learn from Amy is still sound advice. Let her embarrassments and mistakes be a lesson to us all.

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick

If you follow Anna on Twitter, you know she's as honest and relatable as they come. Her book will have you nodding along with every story. Sure, maybe you didn't film a movie about theater camp while living at a theater camp, but you definitely understand everything Anna is going through. You're not alone, my friend.

Now, time to catch up on all of the reading you had no time for at school!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help.
