More than 18 million people visit the Twin Cities every year, drawn by Minneapolis and Saint Paul’s endless adventures. Activities ranging from exploring culture and cuisine to outdoor activities keeping people busy. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or are a local just looking for fun things to do, these 24 things will keep you moving.

1. Walker Art Center and Minneapolis Sculpture Garden

The art center has visual, performing, and media art collections that you won’t want to miss. Go for a walk through the sculpture garden and see the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry.

2. Guthrie Theater

Check out one of the many plays put on at the Guthrie. Did you know you can even take a backstage tour of the Tony award-winning theater? Not only that, but the Guthrie has an Endless Bridge that reaches over the Mississippi where you can overlook St. Anthony Falls.

3. Minnehaha Falls Park

Check out Minnehaha Park’s 53-foot waterfall. It is gorgeous whether it is frozen or flowing. While you’re at it, grab a bite and the Sea Salt Eatery.

4. Mill City Museum

Here you can learn about the history of Minneapolis, its flour industry, and the Mississippi River.

5. Como Park Zoo and Conservatory

Get up close to unique animals, explore the beautiful gardens, or take part in a fun event at the Como Zoo.

6. U.S. Bank Stadium

This stadium, in the heart of downtown, is brand new and completely incredible. Go cheer on the Vikings if you ever get the chance!

7. Minneapolis Institute of Arts

There are almost 10,000 items on display at the MIA. And the best part is, admission is always free.

8. Mall of America

Mall of America has a lot to offer. Stop at one of the food courts and shop ‘til you drop. Or ride a roller coaster at Nickelodeon Universe, the largest indoor theme park in the nation.

9. Science Museum of Minnesota

Great for all ages, the 370,000 square foot building has science exhibits for everyone.

10. Minnesota State Fair

If you’re ever around Minnesota in the summer, I highly suggest checking out the Great Minnesota Get Together. Eat everything on a stick at the second largest state fair in the nation.

11. Wild Rumpus bookstore

Named "Bookstore of the Year" in 2017, Wild Rumpus books is an exciting adventure spot. This bookstore has been a favorite in south Minneapolis for the past 25 years. Although it is a children’s bookstore, if you have an imagination, you will love Wild Rumpus.

12. Lake Harriet Bandshell

Watch a movie or see a concert at the bandshell on a warm summer night.

13. Midtown Global Market

This unique market consists of international gifts and cuisine from local immigrant businesses. Come with an empty stomach and a full wallet to enjoy everything it has to offer.

14. Activities on the water

Canoe, paddleboat, kayak, and paddleboard rentals are available at Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet.

15. First Avenue

Visit the club that made Prince famous and get your picture taken with one of the many stars on the side of the building.

16. Café Astoria

This café is an outpost for fancy coffee and espresso drinks as well as crepes, baked goods and salads. Enjoy your food and drinks in a warm and comfy environment.

17. Ikea

I know it may sound somewhat cheesy, but going on a date to Ikea is actually more fun than you’d expect. After Joseph-Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel did it in “500 Days of Summer,” it has become sort of iconic. And don’t forget to stop at the food court for an inexpensive and delicious meal. The Swedish meatballs are my favorite.

18. Pedal Pub

Have a pint and pedal around the city.

19. Riverview Theater

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
