Most people would think that there aren't any cool stuff to do in New Jersey. Well, they'd be wrong. Although they might cost money to do, all of these are only a train ride away from NYC and worth seeing.
Hike the Appalachian Trail
This is a very popular trail that has almost 4 million travelers every year. It's on the west side of the state and is very remote considering it's in such a populated state. Along the trail, there are shelters to camp and even bear boxes to stash your food at night. It is said to bring the feeling of what the state was like 200 years ago.
Great falls in Paterson
You wouldn’t think of finding a beautiful waterfall in the middle of an urban nightmare that is Paterson, New Jersey. But there is. And it happens to be the second largest waterfall in volume east of the Mississippi. And it once powered the cotton mills that are right next to this raging giant.
New Jersey Beaches
There are a ton of beaches all across the New Jersey shoreline, including many that are often uncrowded. You can even go during the fall season because the water is warmer, and they’re free. During the summer time, most beaches aren’t free, but Wildwood, North Wildwood and Atlantic City are always free.
Hoboken
Hoboken is a very tourist attraction-y place. There’s so much stuff to do and most of it is free. First you can visit the original Carlos Bake Shop and get some delicious desserts. Then you can walk along the shoreline and look at the beautiful skyline of NYC. Plus there are usually food trucks and small parties on the piers. And did you know that Hoboken is the birthplace of Frank Sinatra? You can visit the famous parks made in memory for him and visit places he’s been to across the city.
So next time you're in New Jersey, try exploring out of your comfort zone. You might be surprised on where you'll end up.
