Fun Things to do as a College Student

I have so enjoyed my time at college more than I ever thought I would. Here are some fun suggestions you and your friends can do while at school!

1. Go to a fun town close by

Last weekend we went to Greenville for my friend's birthday and it was so much fun! There is so much to do there plus cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory. We took tons of cute pics and looked around at shops in Downtown Greenville.

2. Get involved in events going on in your area

We went to a local Greek festival and let me tell you those gyros were the bomb. It was also fun to experience different cultures in the community.

3. Participate in fun school activities

Bingo night was so much fun but there are so many other things going on on a college campus. There are movie nights, college ministries, clubs, swing dancing, Zumba, yoga, and that is just to name a few. Try new things every week! It will be so worth it.

4. Get involved with a church

There are really great college ministries on campus to get involved in, but it is not the same as being involved in a group of believers in the community. I know it can be a struggle trying to find a church, but it is a great thing to be apart of. You will get to know families and other students. It is so refreshing to be able to go somewhere that you know you can forget about work and worship the Lord.

5. Do something seasonal

My roommate and some friends went apple picking close by. It was so much fun! We are also planning to go to a pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm (even though that won't fit in our dorm room).

6. Binge watch TV shows with your roomie

OK so if you do not already know I am obsessed with Gilmore Girls, and now (thanks to me) so is my roommate. Any free time we have we can just relax and have a Gilmore Girls night we do. We started Friends when we first came to college, but are already done with that...oops.

7. Get a pet

There is a limit to what kind of pet you can have in your dorm (basically you can just have a fish). We decided to go get a beta fish the other week and it's name is Swedish. We love him, but he is very sassy just like his god mother. But he is one of the best purchases we have made since we have been at college.

8. Explore your college town

There was a night that all the student at AU could go explore downtown. I didn't realize how much is actually here and plus we got a free t-shirt. So, moral of the story, go explore!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
