New York, New York. It is a city of hopes and dreams. There are so many things to do in NYC. If you are there this summer, here is a list of what you should do.

1. BROADWAY

It would be a sin to be in NYC and not see a Broadway play or musical. There are so many different plays and musicals this summer. If you were lucky enough to purchase tickets to Hamilton ahead of time or are willing to splurge on a ticket, then you are one of the lucky few who are able to see the hit Broadway show of the summer. However, there are SO many other options ranging from The King and I to Matilda to The Book of Mormon. No matter what show it is, it is important to make it to Broadway to soak in some fun.

2. SMOARGASBURG

Smorgasburg is a market in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and is held on the waterfront. It is open every Saturday and it is paradise for those obsessed with food. There are around 50 vendors, who sell items from ice cream to donuts to hot dogs to honey. The options are endless. Visitors can have the vendors pack up what they purchase or they can eat it right there.

3. CENTRAL PARK

Whether you are walking, running, biking or taking out a boat, Central Park is an iconic part of NYC. There is so much to do and explore within the confines of Central Park that you could spend all day wandering around it.

4. THE HIGH LINE

The High Line is an elevated park in Manhattan, running through the Lower West Side and Chelsea, which use to be an elevated part of the New York Railroad. Today, it's a greenway which people can walk on and soak in views of NYC from above ground. The High Line has multiple features including a Chelsea Market passageway where you can see art and eat at food carts and cafés. Although part of the High Line has been changed into pathways there are still parts which have the original framework from the railroads where people can climb on.

5. SHOPPING

NYC is known for its shopping. It offers everything from couture lines to big-box stores to vintage stores. No matter what your style or price range is, there is always a place for you to shop. Walk along Madison Avenue and you will find the higher end clothing or head down to Union Square and you will find a variety of stores.

6. UNION SQUARE FARMER'S MARKET

The Union Square Farmer’s Market offers individuals the freshest food and sometimes the most unique options that you can find. It is an open-air market centered around Union Square with many vendors selling everything from fresh fruits and veggies to vegan pastries. It is held every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

7. TIMES SQUARE

When many people picture NYC, they picture Times Square. It is known as the crossroads for NYC as its location is one of the most touristy places in the world. Times Square is adorned with billboards and ads which are brightly colored and draw people’s attention. If you are in NYC, you are sure to walk through Times Square as it is close to many shops and Broadway.

8. ROCKEFELLER CENTER

Rockefeller Center is a central spot which many businesses are located around. It is a focal point for The Time-Life building and Fox News as well as many other well-known businesses. Radio City Music Hall is right in the heart of Rockefeller Center as well as where the Today Show is filmed.

9. THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

The MET is one of the best-known museums in the world and happens to be the largest museum in the United States. It is a great place to become more cultured and to explore beyond the known. The MET offers artwork from ancient Egypt to Islamic art to American modern art. One of the most highly-regarded pieces at the museum is Claude Monet’s “The Water Lily Pond.” Alongside the permanent collections, the MET brings in artwork for short periods of time as visiting exhibitions. This summer there is a visiting exhibition titled Fashion in an Age of Technology. This collection shows how fashion has changed over time and has a variety of outfit types from clothing people wear to couture clothing.

10. TEA AT THE PLAZA HOTEL

Everyone remembers the children’s story of Eloise at the Plaza Hotel. If you are in NYC this summer, it would be a dream to mimic Eloise and have tea at the Plaza. Put on a cute sundress and grab some friends for a cup of tea, some tea sandwiches and of course, people watching the NYC elite.

11. FOOD

NYC is a foodie’s dream. They have some of the BEST restaurants in the world in a variety of cuisines. There are lots of different options for people with dietary restrictions or picky eaters. From the trendy “healthy” fast-food option of by Chloe to Michelin star restaurants, there is always an opportunity to taste some delicious food.
