8 Fun Things To Do Now That It's October

Fall has finally arrived, so let's enjoy it!

I don't know about you, but every season seems to come just when I need it to. Hot summer days are over, and now we can finally begin the big sweatshirt and ripped jeans aesthetic we've all been waiting for! Nonetheless, every season has its perks, so here are a few things you can do during the fall, especially if you aren't feeling the October mood quite yet.

1. Carve pumpkins

The Office GIF

Carving pumpkins is such a fun thing to do, especially when you get a bunch of friends together! Even if you're like me and you can't carve anything other than a smiley face, it's still a fun activity to get you into the fall spirit. And it'll look cute too!

2. Go to a haunted house

Haunted House

Haunted houses have never been my favorite thing, mostly because I don't voluntarily want to be scared, but if you need to get into the Halloween spirit, then this will definitely do the trick. If you're living near the Champaign-Urbana area, there are a few houses that you have to visit!

3. Binge watch Halloween shows

Now we all know that "Halloweentown" is a must watch for the fall season, but "Halloween Baking Championship" takes a close second on my list. The show started out a couple of years ago and has since highlighted some great bakers that have a talent for baking scary deserts!

4. Test out new Starbucks drinks

Starbucks drinks are the perfect way to ease yourself into the new season, and, might I say, they're pretty delicious as well. My favorite fall drink is the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate, which you can actually buy packs of online, but their Pumpkin Spice Latte is something that if you haven't tried it yet, then you really need to this fall!

5. Buy cute dorm decorations

For all the college students, being away from home can make holidays seem less festive since we're all busy with our schedules, but having a few cute pumpkins in your room is sure to change that! We have to enjoy the fall mood while we can, even if we won't be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.

6. Visit a corn maze

Going through a corn maze with some of your friends is something you have to do at least once during the fall! Whether or not you get lost inside, you'll make it out having had a great time!

7. Make these Halloween cookies

Pillsbury Cookies

These cookies are seriously something I cannot pass up during, especially during the fall season. They're ridiculously good, so if you've never eaten them before, then you're definitely in for a treat!

8. Go to a barn dance

Barn dances are popular parties in college life, and if you're a part of greek life, then you've probably been to your fair share of them already! Either way, barn dances get you into feeling the spirit of Halloween, and you'll have a good time no matter what!

You may be sad that summer is over and the days are going to become shorter, but these eight things will for sure lift your spirits and get you enjoying the cold weather and hot chocolate!

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

10 Reasons Why Sisters Are The Best

Who could be a better friend than your own sister?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. So, if you are aware that you’re a Starbucks addict as well, or maybe you need to check to see if you’re an addict, here are seven ways to tell.

College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective. The following aren’t foolproof tips and may not apply to you, but I was able to find success with them (hope you do too!)
