Yes, I know, “There is nothing fun to do when I go home.” We all say that and we all wish we were on an island catching some rays or in the mountains playing in the snow.
But I’ll tell you, even if you aren’t going to a cool place over spring break, you can make the most of it by spending the week in your “boring” hometown.
1. Bring a friend home from college
If you have a friend who also doesn’t have plans for the break, bring them home with you! You never know, they might fall in love with your little hometown.
2. Don’t go to chain food restaurants or places you always went to when you lived there.
You can do one of two things, or a combination of both:
Cook at home- you will save money AND you learn some new recipes.
Plus, it doesn’t hurt to get a head start on working towards your plan B idea of going to culinary school when you finally decide that the load at the University is unbearable
Try different restaurants you've never tried before- Go to that weird looking "hole-in-a-wall" restaurant you heard was good but never had a chance to try-- now you have time!
3. Visit old high school friends
No, I don’t care if you haven’t seen or spoken to Claire in 3 years. You guys did everything together for 4 years and now you’re going to go to lunch and reminisce about all the dumb boys you crushed on in high school.
4. Act like a tourist
Find some landmarks you never knew existed!
Go to Roadside America and click on the state you live in, then click on one of the many red dots that would be surrounding your area. Bring a friend with you and go exploring!!
5. Catch up on school
I know we all say this and it never happens, but seriously! Make a list of 5 things to accomplish over the break.
That gives you 4 whole days that you don’t even have to think about school!
6. Work out!
Spring break bodies are for WIMPS. Use this time to work on your SUMMER body. Man, that girl this summer is gonna be HOT.
7. Hit the reset button
Relax. Lay out by a beach, lake or pool near your house. Binge watch Netflix. Read a book. Explore new hobbies.
Enjoy your break – EVEN in your “boring” hometown.
