Summer has been stuck on full throttle since the second I overturned my tassel. My friends are beginning their lives as adults in the college life and my experience has somewhat already started because I have been living on campus for about 4 weeks. I have already spent about $40 on casual living that would normally be provided for me at home.
Due to our lack of financial stability, my friends and I have run out of fun and exciting things to do this summer without having to dive into our life savings. Though, do not fear, there is hope for us broke college students! I did some searching and found a couple of interesting things you and I can both do this summer for FREE!
Pinellas Heritage Village
This little historical village is for all my history buffs who enjoy a stroll through the past. The village holds historic buildings like a old schoolhouse, general store, church, and a firehouse. Guess what else is so grand about this experience?! IT'S FREE!!
Tampa Museum of Art
Who doesn't love art? For college students, you can get in free from 4-8 pm on Fridays with your id. So grab some friends and start your weekend right with some beautiful portraits and statues!
Take A Stroll In Ybor City
Ybor City has got to be one of the most beautiful and the most sketchiest places you could ever be at, day or night. But the liveliness of the city and all who inhabit it is makes up for the bad name. So, grab a couple of your girl friends or guy friends and enjoy the company of the city's bright lights.
Watch the Sunset
I don't know about you but the perfect ending to any day would be watching the sun go down and the clouds conform to these purples, pinks and oranges with a few of my closest friends. There is nothing better than that and Pier 60 in Clearwater has the perfect view! Hop in the van with three or four buddies and go stare at the horizons together.
Play With Puppies
This is something my friends and I did this past weekend and plan on doing every weekend if we can. Who said you had to buy a puppy when you can just go to a million different places and smother yourself in puppies galore! Find a shelter or a puppy place and love on some cute puppies! Maybe find your way to a couple kittens too.
Visit Lettuce Lake Park
I will say that this park isn't completely free due to a $2 parking fee but if people are willing to pitch in whatever they can I am sure you will be able to come up with the payment. On the other hand, the trail to the lake is a fun experience in itself and the lake has a marvelous view that is absolutely picture-worthy!
Tampa Riverwalk
The scenic riverfront of downtown Tampa is such a beautiful place to be during the summer. You can stroll along the river and indulge yourself in the view of the surrounding buildings. There are even little parks along the edges where you can stop for a rest or even have a little picnic with some friends. It's just a casual spot to enjoy nature and the classic ambiance of Tampa.
Tampa, in my opinion, has many great opportunites for us to have a whole bunch of fun without spending anything! The fun is also in good company so if you can round up a great group of friends, nothing can go wrong.
