“Whatever happened to predictability. The milkman, the paperboy, evening TV?”
If this phrase doesn’t make you immediately think of the popular sitcom “Full House," then you probably haven’t even heard that Netflix released a brand new reboot to “Full House” called “Fuller House” on February 26th. And for the avid fans, this was one Netflix show that they did not plan on missing.
Even though “Full House” premiered in 1987 and I am now a college sophomore, I have, in fact watched, every single episode of the nostalgic series. Every time I would come home from school at three in the afternoon, “Full House” would be playing on TV and as cheesy as the entire show was, I knew every catchphrase, from “You got it dude!” to “How rude!” to “Cut it out!” I would know exactly when each character would say it. And I’m pretty sure every female who watched “Full House” at one point in her life wished she could be Rebecca, because John Stamos was/still is pretty attractive. Rest assured, when I found out “Fuller House” was going to be released on Netflix, I knew that would be the next show I’d be binge watching non-stop.
Really cheesy, but since “Fuller House” would be taking place in the modern day and age, would it be a more sophisticated spin on the old version? Netflix hadn’t released anything aside from a few clips, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. I think for fans of the old show, the premiere of “Fuller House” did deliver. I enjoyed seeing the side-by-side clips and similarities from the old show and the new show. It definitely brought back many memories. The Olsen twins were missed, but “Fuller House” did do a great job of covering their absence up and putting the focus on the cast of “Fuller House” rather than the cast of “Full House."
Entertainment Weekly. Even though I haven’t finished watching the entire season yet, which currently consists of 13 episodes, I’m sure fans around the world would have to disagree. And even if you were never a “Full House” super-fan, not many traditional shows have the courage to reboot as a new show. So before you start to believe that “Fuller House” doesn’t have much to offer and that the entirety of the show is just one big reunion for the characters, keep in mind that it is a clever modern take on an original classic.
See you again soon, "Fuller House."
