The Full Life Experience

Live your wildest dreams!

The Full Life Experience
Stephanie B. Parsons

There always seem to be people, especially on social media, that lead these grand and adventurous lives. Whether they're traveling the world or inventing things that save lives, people just seem to be living life to the fullest, which leaves the rest of us looking around wondering when we will find that "Full Life Experience".

Don't worry, it's possible. It just depends on your definition of a full life and how much you're willing to work for it. The path to an amazing life isn't going to show up one day, and that path isn't called "Easy Street." For instance, when college recruiters or reps talk about how amazing their campus is and how many opportunities they provide and what incredible things a lot of students have been doing during their time there, high school seniors get this daydream look in their eye and almost start drooling at the thought of interning at some big company or being able to do research on important subject in their field by sophomore year. What these reps don't tell you while they are talking up the good life at college is the secret to a full life at college (and anywhere else): You have to get it yourself. Yeah, I know, it bums me out too. You mean an internship in Mumbai with all expenses paid isn't going to fall in my lap? WHAT? I kid, I kid, I know I have to research weekly and take all theses classes and yada yada yada... But in all honesty, sometimes we look at success and forget about all the steps it took to get there.

The first step is going to be to (and I love to do this) make a list! Write down what you think is a full life. Does that mean you travel? Does that mean you have a bunch of little mini humans raised by you and your future spouse running around? Does that mean that you manage a company and get to shout orders to the confused and frightened intern just trying to get you coffee? Whatever it is, detail your list with it. What would fill that "There's something missing" feeling you have in your gut about the life you have now?

You have your life-changing goals set before you, now what is it going to take to acquire these things? You might need:

1) A career that allows, and maybe even encourages travel. 2) Finding that special someone (hey, that ain't easy. That takes patience and a lot of prayer. Don't rush this one.) to have a family with. 3) Attaining a degree in business or whatever degree is specific to the managerial position you have your eye on.

A full life doesn't have to come from the huge, life-altering things though. What if I always wanted a waffle-maker and am so tired of eating flat, boring pancakes? Getting a waffle-maker could complete my full life, even if it is just for a small time in my life. It can be the little things too, guys.

Just a little note: Something that will give you a better life experience is making sure that you actually do experience it. Write down when something changes in your life, or when something amazing happens. And please, I beg of you, take pictures. You went through all the trouble of living in this crazy world, why not have a few shots of your highlight moments?

So it all comes down to two questions:

What life do you want?

How badly do you want it?

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
