3 Ways To Fulfill Your Wanderlust During COVID-19

Wanderlust is at an all-time high as we dream about the places we could have traveled to this year. The memories we wanted to make and the places we thought we would visit are currently at a standstill. Although traveling is on hold for right now, that doesn't mean exploration is. There are plenty of ways to fuel your wanderlust, even in the midst of a pandemic.

Stay Local

As people slowly get more comfortable leaving their homes, they may find that traveling is a bit more doable… locally. Although planes may be out of the picture for a bit, we can take a staycation in the place we call home.

Explore the city or region around you and discover new places around your home that you never knew about or cared to visit. That park you always knew existed, yet never went to? Go for a picnic or walk around a trail. That cool attraction that only tourists go to? Act like a tourist yourself and visit it.

One form of travel has been flourishing lately… RV's. Rent an RV for cheap and road trip across your region or state. It's a safe way to explore and can be relatively inexpensive.

Plan a Trip

Another way to fuel your wanderlust involves not leaving your home. If you have free time during quarantine, use this to plan out a trip for the future. You don't need to pay for anything right now, simply plan an itinerary or write a list of places you want to explore.

For me, I made a list of places I wanted to visit, what I wanted to see and do there, and possible dates to go. Although nothing is set in stone, this gives me a better idea as to how and when I will be traveling when it is safe to do so.

Read Travel Magazines

Because my home has been transformed into my sanctuary, I like to relax after a long day at my internship or simply take time for myself. In these moments, I fuel my wanderlust by reading travel magazines. If you're not a reader, take a look at the pictures… you'll still get a great experience.

Travel magazines give you a glimpse into what other cities and countries have to offer and can help you plan out your own trip. They are also a great way to visually explore other places and see what they look like.

COVID shouldn't bring your wanderlust to a halt. There are plenty of ways to get to know your city now and plan a trip for later, all while staying safe.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
