From The Girl Who Goes Home Frequently

It's just as normal to like to go home as it is to stay on campus.

College is fun and exciting. Especially when you first get there your freshman year. The freedom is exciting, and for some people they cannot imagine going home for a long time, however for others going home is more appealing. Personally I go home a majority of my weekends. At first I felt lame for wanting to go home as much as I did, but now I don't see a problem with it at all. Here are some reasons why.

I like seeing my family.

I never knew just how much I depended on or needed my family before I went to college. I thought I couldn't wait to be away from home and on my own. For a month I liked being away from home but then I started to miss my family's presence. I missed them terribly when I was gone. I got homesick a lot. I enjoy spending Saturday nights watching a movie or tv show with my dad, having a dinner my mom cooks, cuddling with my dog, watching anything my precious nephew does, bantering with my brother, and talking with my sister-in-law. I love being around my family.

I like seeing my friends every chance I can.

Every time my friends tell me they are either coming home or not busy over the weekend, I always want to go home and see them. I don't see my friends from high school much anymore, so anytime I get the chance I want to see them. I always love catching up with them, having fun, and spending some quality time together.

Sometimes it's nice to go home and work.

Anytime I am asked to babysit the girls I have babysat for a couple years, I always jump at the chance. Going home and babysitting is actually fun for me. I love those girls so much, they are the sweetest little girls out there. So sometimes I just would rather go home and watch them.

I love being in the comfort of my home.

I love being home because that means I have my bedroom, a non public bathroom, a non public washer and dryer, and lots of food. Don't get me wrong dorm life is fun but sometimes nothing can beat your own bed and shower.

Being home some weekends is just more appealing than staying.

I love college, I do. However, I am not into the stereotypical college scene so sometimes going home and having fun with my friends and family is more fun than being in my dorm. If I stayed on campus I'd just be doing all the same things I do throughout the week. So why not go home? The drive isn't bad by any means, and I love being in my hometown (well city).

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
