Here is the story of the week we have all been waiting for: the first week of college.
I loved moving in and setting everything up. I got to see my roommate and we immediately clicked again. Although my side of the room was practically blank compared to her dream catchers, drawings, and adorable Polaroid pictures. Hey, mine is getting there. Although I love my, all freshman dorm building called Bohn, there is no air conditioning. One of my friends has five fans, we have three.
We had our first fire drill where all of us had to evacuate. There are 16 floors and I'm on the ninth, with a beautiful view of the New York City sky line. We are lucky, some people have a view of the dumpster.
I have met all my hall mates and love them already. One day I went down to the only place that has air conditioning, the lounge. A bunch of nice girls were there, and little did I know, they would become my best friends. The girls mentioned how fun it would be if someone came to the lounge with a deck of cards. How easy would it be to walk around with a deck of cards and ask people to play; what a great way to make friends. To their luck, I came down with cards and we played Spoons and President. We immediately bonded.
Next, we went to my dorm and talked. I went to the bathroom and when I came back there were three boys in my room! We had a blast hanging out, talking and questioning the boy from Illinois. Soon the RA came by and said we had too many people in our room. Out ya go!
The next morning I woke up at 5:30 a.m. and was too excited to go back to sleep, so off to the 24 hour diner I go! I hated what I ordered. The next day I went back at 4 a.m. after being awakened by a text. I ordered another disgusting meal. They gave it to me for free and said they'd remembered that I didn't eat any of my French Toast the day before. Oops! I'm sure they know now that I am the crazy 4 a.m. girl who doesn't eat anything. Yeah, I go to Dunkin Donuts now.
On my first day of classes, I couldn't find the exit out of the staircase. I ended up in the courtyard, running up the stairs because I didn't leave early enough and I was maybe going to be late, when I tripped on the concrete stairs. The next thing I know, my toes are bleeding. Because I'm allergic to band aids, I had to wrap them in a paper towel. Then things got worse. I went in the complete opposite direction of my class and got lost. Realizing I was going to be late, I started running with bloody toes. At least I was only two minutes late, unlike two other kids who were 20 minutes late. Pshh. Freshman. What a morning.
That night I went to my first college party with seven friends. Luckily, after wondering nervously for hours if I should go, because It's two weeks before I turn 18, no ID's were checked. The club was in a barn. A barn! With a huge bull on the wall. We all had a blast dancing with each other and with boys. It was fun until a girl threw up and it splashed on our legs.
Another day, I jumped up and down when my friends decided to go to Zumba class. Little did we know, that it was another week before it started, even though the schedule was already up. At least we met a nice girl, a senior, who gave us tons of advice.
I can't wait for my adventure to continue. I never knew I could be so happy!
