Thank you.

It’s been four years since I have first seen you perform in front of a crowd of one hundred people. That was 2012, and now it is 2016.

You have always been one to provide smiles, laughter and tears for your fans. We have had times of happiness and sadness. The bond between you and yours fans is one like no other.

Your fans consist of some of my best friends. Because of you, I have met them and have such beautiful and crazy relationships with them. I have grown up with these girls and we have done so much together, from going to your shows and watching you sing on stage, to going on vacations with each other. You have allowed me to find my niche.

This whole time we have stuck together and watched you follow your dreams. You have become so successful and have worked so hard to get to where you are now. I was with you every step of the way. I saw your shining moments and your downfalls.

I was with you the day your first album had been released. I was there when you had found out the news about your Uncle. I watched when you auditioned in front of Simon Cowell for the X-Factor. I drove all the way from Long Island to New Jersey to see you perform on stage for a crowd of over 2,000 people only one day after you had your appendix removed. I was there the day you dropped your second album and I was also there when your newest single had reached 1 million online streams.

You’ve survived the good and bad. Nothing has stopped your career. You continue to defy any hardships you face, and for that I am so proud.

I am proud.

We are proud.

From starting out in front of crowds of 100 people, to expanding to performing in front of crowds of 15,000 people in under 5 years is an accomplishment only a few can really only do. You had the courage to overcome failure and fear. I admire your strength to always keep going.

You’ve taught myself and others that when the tough gets going, the going gets tough.

You’re on tour now, travelling all over the country. I haven’t spoken to you in a while but always know, that you will have me back at home to support you along the way. This is really only the beginning, though you have already done so much. Keep going kid.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
