The Fashion Spot

For those gals that are into fashion, if you’re anything like me, I know that you love to spend at least 30 minutes at night picking out and trying on outfits to wear the next morning. And trust me, I know how much you love getting that perfect candid Instagram picture of your “OOTD.” And although these pictures are always super cute, I think we can all agree that fashion takes a lot of damn effort. 30 minutes at night to pick out an outfit? Some nights I need those 30 minutes to finish my calc homework or watch "The Bachelorette" (priorities, ladies). Or maybe I just don’t feel like squeezing into my skinniest skinny jeans when I can barely conger up the effort to unwrap myself from the cocoon that I’ve created from my bed sheets. This past year, I have become very familiar with waking up late and having to throw an outfit together, some of them not too pretty. Luckily I have some tips for you to avoid that: Five quick ways to spice up your outfit in no time!

1. Distressed Denim

I'm sure all of us are very aware that boyfriend jeans are all the rage. Well, lucky for us ladies, they're also the most comfortable pants to ever exist. Comfortable and cute? Now this doesn't happen too often. Ripped up jeans and a plain T-shirt is the most effortlessly cute yet edgy outfit. If Selena can rock it, so can you.

2. Scrunchies!

Now, this is my personal favorite; whether I'm throwing an outfit together five minutes before class or getting ready for a night out, you can always find me wearing a scrunchie. They say, "Yeah, I'm a fun gal to talk to." (You know, if scrunchies could speak.) They're fun, flirty, and a perfect way to make your bedhead look cool.

3. Statement Pieces

On those mornings when you're in a pickle and nothing seems to look good on you, statement pieces are the way to go. They're the perfect distracting object. Have a huge pimple on your forehead? Draw attention away from your face with a statement belt. Statement necklaces are another go-to accessory. No one has ever not looked put-together in an all black outfit and a nice statement necklace, or even scarf.

4. Red Lips

Now let's be honest...have you ever seen anyone look not bada** while rocking red lip stick? No, because you can never go wrong with a red lip. A red lip can change the vibe of an outfit in seconds; it's the sassiest accessory known to man, and it's incredibly effortless. Throw on some black leggings, a big sweater and smack on that red lipstick, you'll be sure to get a few compliments.

5. Hats, Hats, and More Hats!

So maybe you had a rough night last night. Maybe it was so rough that your hair looks like a beehive from sleeping in those once perfect curls, and unfortunately, you don't have enough time to shower before class. Not to fear, floppy hats and baseball hats are here! Hats are the perfect way to cover up that matted hair, and hide your face from the regrettable decisions of the night before. So a big thank you to these wonderful accessories, you've saved us a lot of awkward encounters.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
