Recent Frightening News in South Carolina

Residents of a South Carolina town are on edge after being warned that people dressed as clowns were spotted trying to lure children into the woods.

“There have been several conversations and a lot of complaints to the office regarding a clown or a person dressed in clown clothing talking to children or trying to lure children into the woods,” read a letter sent by the property management company which owns the Fleetwood Manor apartments in Greenville, South Carolina.

“At no times should a child be alone at night, or walking in the roads or wooded area at night,” the property manager warned.

And apparently, the company that manages the apartments did not immediately return a request for comment from BuzzFeed News. However, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Master Deputy Drew Pinciaro was quoted saying that deputies "received a call complaining about clowns being spotted in the woods behind the apartments on Aug. 20". But the caller did not want to leave their name, he said.

One woman did file a report with the sheriff’s office on Aug. 21, explaining that two days earlier her son told her he had “seen clowns in the woods whispering and making strange noises,” read an incident report sent to BuzzFeed News with the woman’s name redacted.

The woman then went to investigate herself and “observed several clowns in the woods flashing green laser lights [who] then ran away into the woods.” The woman’s oldest son also told a sheriff’s deputy he heard “chains and banging” at the door of their home.

“[Our children] mentioned, ‘Mama, there’s clowns out there in the woods and they’re trying to get us to come out there,’” James Arnold, resident of Fleetwood Manor, said. “Some had chains, some had knives, and some were holding out money, saying, ‘Come here, we’ve got candy for you,’ but they wouldn’t go.”

“It’s getting a little ridiculous. My son, he’s seen 10 at one time. It doesn’t make no sense that they would be targeting kids,” Donna Arnold, wife of James Arnold, said.

I was thinking about the movie It, the Stephen King one,” she continued. “I was a little scared, but if they want to mess with me they’re messing with the wrong woman.”

An unidentified neighbor is mentioned in the sheriff’s report as having seen a clown when she was walking to her house at 2:30 a.m. in the morning of Aug. 21. “[She] saw a clown with a blinking nose, standing under a post light near the garbage dumpster area,” read the incident report. “She stated the suspect waved at her and she waved back while she made her way to her residence safely. The suspect did not approach her or harm her.”

The deputy who compiled the report also wrote that several children said they "believe the clowns stay in a house located near a pond at the end of a man-made [trail] in the woods.”

Donna Arnold described the house as “abandoned.”

The investigating deputy followed the trail and wrote of having “observed a house near a pond that was located in the area behind the apartments,” but reported “no signs of suspicious activity or characters dressed in clown attire.”

The Arnold's said they and other residents are concerned for the children’s safety.

“We talk to them constantly about "stranger danger" because this is a bad neighborhood, but nothing like this has happened,” James Arnold said. “This is one of the neighborhoods where guys are walking around carrying guns, but we’ve had no clowns before.”

So first of all, WHAT THE HELL. Second of all, are these "clowns" (no pun intended) going to kill someone or is this just some weird beginning of a cult? A prank maybe? I'm both frightened and confused. More info to follow this next week if we can get anymore information about these crazy people from Greenville.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
