The last couple weeks have been difficult with the unexpected outcome of a seemingly endless and contentious election cycle. Arguments and hurt feeling with the people I love the most, and a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness when overwhelmed with an endless march of problems, moral and ethical. The anger and frustration had been awful. It has pitted families against each other. Holidays have become land mines.
I have had many obstacles in my search to find myself and my mission in life. Being introverted and anti-social hasn't helped this search. Now, as I look toward year 55, that challenge seems to be just beginning. Despite those challenges, my vision has never been more clear and focused. I credit that to a renewed friendship and a desire to make a difference in the best way I can.
Lisa Combs and I started Best Friend Books a little less than one year ago. Today, we uploaded the files for our third book. The books come in quick succession now — we instinctively know how to put the words and illustrations together. As soon as I see the manuscripts from Lisa, I start drawing in my mind. In the beginning, I was impatient, but, looking back, I see that we have accomplished much in the last few months.
Our next title, "You Can Sit With Me," grew out of an intense need for reconciliation and peace in a time when both seem unattainable. The book will be available on Amazon before Christmas.
We feel it's our best, and most compelling yet. And, one more step in a series of books which will certainly exceed a dozen titles.
