“What is friends with benefits, actually?”

Some of us might know it as the kind of relationship where you can be friends and have a sexual encounter with the same person, without emotional attachment. Having friends with benefits has become more common now, and I still don't know whether it would be fulfilling or not. Despite the fact you have someone you can be friends with, get kisses from them, and you can still see as many people as you want to, does this type of relationship really bring happiness to your life?

The idea of having this type of relationship seems compelling for some people. Many dating apps allow you to have this kind of relationship without even having been friends with them first. However, having a friends-with-benefits relationship with a classmate or co-worker might not be too great of an idea. Save yourself from having an awkward situation when things don't work out. Also, these apps made everything easier since you can let someone know your intention at the very beginning because no one likes to be played.

A friends-with-benefits relationship also means that you don’t have to commit to one person only. Some people think the idea of not being monogamous is amazing. There is no "cheating," because both of you already know that no one is there to be committed. There will be no expectations for the relationship.

FWB need to have strong communication, so both parties are on the same page. Both have to be incredibly open with one another about what they want and need. When friends with benefits have more disadvantages on you, then it is time to call it quits since it is no longer benefiting you.

The idea of this kind of relationship seems fun for some people but for others, not so much. There are layers of complication when it comes to feelings. Make sure that the decision you make will add greater joy to your life. Whether it is being in touch with your emotions, having a strong relationship with someone, or having the kind of relationship brings you spiritually closer to God; where it is definitely not going to be provided in this type of relationship.

Afterall, it is still up to you to decide whether this type of relationship is something you want to jump in to.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
