I Met Some Of My Closest Friends Through Twitter

If you had told me five years ago that my closest friends came from Twitter I probably would have called you crazy, now that I've lived it I can tell you that I would have wished for nothing less.

Five years ago on Twitter.com a friend of mine was tweeting back and forth between some girl I had never met before. Being the nosy human I am I jumped into the conversation and then went and stalked the girl's page. Rebecca* and I had very similar interests and she only lived 30 minutes away from me.

Since that day we became twitter friends or "mutuals" and we frequently chatted back and forth discussing bands and concerts we had been too. I loved her personality and was hoping that one day we would finally be able to hang out in real life instead of just talking through social media.

For a few years, Rebecca and I attended the same shows yet somehow never met, every time she was in my area I somehow seemed to miss her. We always said we needed to meet up but the time was never perfect. Flash forward to summer 2019, this was the summer of concerts and I knew that someway somehow my dear Twitter friend and I were going to meet.

A couple of weeks before the first show she messaged me and said that her friends got an Airbnb for the concert and they had an extra bed for me to stay in, finally I was going to meet my gal pal. So for the weeks up until the concert I briefly got to know the other girls I was going to be staying with.

The day finally came and we decided to meet at Cracker Barrel. So the first time I met Rebecca and Anna* was in the bathroom at Cracker Barrel. We had a fun weekend in Atlanta, we visited the aquarium, picked up our friend from the airport, went to a park and rocked out to our favorite bands. It was one of the best weekends of my life.

After that weekend I continued to stay in contact, I have gone to several more concerts with these gals as well. I have grown so close to them and we always have so much fun together, they are supporting and beautiful and such wonderful people. Because of them, I have met other wonderful people at concerts and I now have a group of people no matter what concert I go to.

Twitter is a social media website full of jokes and celebrities making political statements, but for me, it is where I met a group of girls so close to me that I would die for them.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
