To the friends, I have made through my job,
When I first started working with all of you, before we became friends, coming in for long shifts was extremely difficult. On a beautiful summer day or early in the morning on a weekend, getting out of bed to begin the day was a huge struggle. As weeks went on, from spending so much time with everyone, we created bonds that have made work a lot less painful. I would personally like to thank all of you for that.
While working all day can be dreadful, having people to share the time with makes it that much more bearable. Whether we are ranting about an annoying customer or slacking off together, sometimes work hardly feels like work. When it does get tiring, we have no problem whining and complaining to each other about it. We even have a long list of #workproblems that we can all relate to on a spiritual level.
Half of the stories I share with my other friends start with, “So, this one time at work…” because so many funny things happen when we are all together. Plus, we basically live there. We have a countless number of insider jokes by now and we manage to create new ones from the second we clock in until we clock out.
Not only do we spend hours together at work, but we have gotten to the point where we hang out constantly outside of work as well. Whether we are going to a party or half-off apps, clearly eight hours a day is not enough. We are always like, “Can someone have people over soon? I miss you guys.” Going into work together the next morning when we are all exhausted is basically a rite of passage. And, of course, the recap is almost as much fun at the actual night itself.
We enjoy each other’s company so much that we even have a group chat that we talk in all the time when we are not together. Half of what is said in it involves inside jokes from work, unsurprisingly. Even though nobody else would understand why the things we talk about are so funny, we find them hysterical. So does anything else matter, really?
It really is a godsend to be able to make money for hanging out with your friends. I never expected to be able to get so close to my coworkers, but I am beyond happy that I did. Thank you for giving me some kind of motivation to stop hitting snooze. You will all probably make fun of me for how corny this is, but that's OK!
Love you all almost as much as I love my paychecks.
xoxo
