Growing up from Elementary to High School, we all have tons of friends; and as the years go on we get closer with some and more distant from others, and you immediately think you hit the jackpot with those friends. However, it's like the saying goes "you come as strangers, and you leave as family." We are well underway of our second semester in college, and cliques have started forming, we are all going off and doing our own thing, and I am so grateful to have my group of best friends that have the same interests and ideas as me. Here are a couple reasons why:
- 1. Being away from home, you sometimes just need to vent to someone. Sure, we're capable of making a phone call back home, but other times you just need to see someone's face-to-face in order to see a reaction from somebody. Luckily, when you find those friends in college, they will do whatever it takes to turn that frown upside down, because they not only help you understand and cope with your frustration, but they help you realize that everything is going to be okay.
2. They are seriously down to make a food run at whatever time with you. No matter if only one of us is hungry, we are all ready to go. And then the even more bittersweet moment when you don't have enough money, and they spot you, like they need to be given an award or something! You know a friendship is going to form real quick if you all love food.
3. College may mean that it's a new time for us, a time to be independent and daring; however, that doesn't mean we all necessarily need to be out clubbing and partying. Finding a group of friends who want to be adventurous is amazing, because they'd rather explore what is all around us. Whether it's listening to music and dancing in your room, exploring the city itself, or going off on a weekend adventure, these are the memories that we'll cherish forever.
4. If you asked a bunch of people who are twenty and over, they would tell you "I had a lot of fun at that time, but you couldn't pay me to do it again," because even though college is meant to be some of the funnest years of your life... you are having to become an adult while trying to have all that fun. You go through different obstacles while there, both big and small, and at the end of the day those friends are ready with whatever you are about to throw their way.
5. Let's be honest, we all show up to college as some type of hot mess from one extreme to another, and these friends that you find are totally cool with it. With all that we have going on, who has time to be put together 24/7? In all seriousness, your clique is truly your best friends because later in life, they are the ones who can truly appreciate the magnitude of your success, because they saw you at the bottom, and they not only saw you rise to the top, but they helped you get there.
6. Not to say that we should just dump our friends we made from Elementary to High School, they played a key role in helping us get to where we are, but the best friends we meet in college really have to be given credit, because they are stuck in the same place with all day everyday, and if they haven't gone mad yet, they are keepers. It's exactly like the saying goes "I've learned that college friends become your family, you eat together, you take naps together, fight, laugh, cry, and do absolutely nothing together until you can't remember how you've ever lived your life without them in the first place."
