A Thank You Letter To My Best Friends

I love you guys to the moon and back

A Thank You Letter To My Best Friends
Dominique Washington

It’s hard to put words into how thankful I am for my best friends, but here's a shot at it...

Thank you for making me laugh until I pee my pants.

It’s pretty easy to find friends who can make you laugh - they just need a good sense of humor. However, I think it’s incredibly difficult to find friends who can make you laugh until you have tears streaming down your cheeks.

Thank you for laughing at my jokes even when they weren’t all that funny.

I know sometimes I say things that don't always make sense, but it helps knowing you guys will laugh anyway. I know you may not find my jokes as funny as I do, funny, but thanks for laughing along with me anyway.

Thank you for letting me eat all of the food in your house.

I know your mom bought those chocolate chip cookies for someone else, but they were just so good. Thank you for always being down to eat a lot of food. Thank you for spending $25 on all-you-can-eat sushi and eating every last piece with me. Thank you for spotting me the extra money so I can buy the Twix bar, because you all know that’s my favorite candy bar.

Thank you for calming me down when I’m having a bad day.

I know I can over react and be dramatic, so thank you for always knowing what to say. Knowing I have friends to help me through something tough makes it so much easier.

Thank you for being so supportive of every decision I make, even if it’s a stupid one.

I always want to do my best and even if I don’t succeed, you always have my back.

Thank you for always being honest with me.

Even if I don’t agree with what you have to say, I know you mean well and I should listen to you because you usually know what you’re talking about.

Thank you for those late night drives to clear our heads or for long road trips.

I love blasting our favorite songs and screaming at the top of our lungs. You don’t know how much I enjoy listening to our favorite movie soundtracks and then reenacting the scene. Even driving an hour to the beach only to find out there are 40 mile per hour winds pelting us with sand will always be cherished.

Thank you for adopting me into your family.

I love feeling welcomed into your house. Your family is like my second family and I love them as much as I love my own family. Also, thank you for giving me another dog to love.

Thank you for forgiving me when I say something stupid that pisses you off.

I may say things that irritate you, so thank you for always giving me a second, third or one 100th chance to say, "I’m sorry" because I don’t mean anything by it.

Thank you for being the best friends I could ever ask for.

Without you guys, I wouldn’t be where I am today. The support and love I feel from you guys is indescribable. Thank you for everything, I love you all.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
