To My Best Friends As We Leave For College

I hope you never forget our dance parties or 2 a.m. talks.

To My Best Friends As We Leave For College

Well, this is it. In less than 30 days we will be throwing our caps up in the air and saying goodbye to high school. Four years and countless memories later we are almost to the day we have dreamed and talked about for so long. College, it seemed so far away once upon a time ago but I guess between the Friday night lights and senior chants and countless sleepovers time slipped away and here we are now.

To begin this I just want to say thank you, to each and every single one of you who have seen me cry or made me laugh so hard my stomach has hurt. I have never had the kind of friends that I have now before I met you guys. No matter how long we have been friends or what we have been through I couldn't be more thankful and blessed that I got the opportunity to meet every one of you.

So on that note, "To My Best Friends As We Leave For College" I hope you never forget our 2 am talks about life and what we want in the future because I know I won't. I hope when you hear an old throwback song you think of me and our dance parties and how whenever we drove around together I would always beg you guys to let me have the aux so I could play them.

I hope that life throws you all the blessings and opportunities that it possibly can and that you're fearless enough to take on every single one of them with a full heart and clear eyes. I hope you never settle for shitty boys like we all have done before in the past and that you change someone's life the way you guys have changed mine.

God forbid If life ever gets too busy for us and we grow apart from distance or such but if we do I hope you know that I will forever be a phone call away and or a plane ticket home. You guys are my soulmates and have seen me at my worst and still chose to love me unconditionally despite my flaws and before I met you guys I never had that support system of friends. So thank you, because you guys have shown me what true friendship is like and for years that's all I wanted; were people like you and you guys gave me an unforgettable year.

As excited as we all are for college, I can't help but dread the day we all have to hug goodbye to go and begin our new lives. Having no idea when we will see each other next, I hope you constantly update me on life and all the new people you are going to meet when you move away. I hope you always snapchat me "howwwwwww drunkkkk" you are at your first frat party (well let's be real here we all know it's not our first) but you get the point.

Most of all I hope you go and live the life you have always wanted and have talked about with me for so long, there's nothing holding us back now besides a summer and a car ride away from this new chapter in our life. Go and live it and be fearless and brave and spontaneous because you guys make me feel all those things when I'm around you and I know the kind of power you guys can have on someone if they are lucky enough to cross paths with you. You guys will forever be my soul sisters and as sad as I am to watch us all go our separate ways, I can't wait to see how you guys will change the world one day.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
