Types Of F-R-I-E-N-D-S In College

In This Article:

In honor of Jenifer Aniston finally making an Instagram account (and breaking the Internet by getting to over 5 million followers in one day...), I thought I would discuss the many types of "F R I E N D S" in college. Even if you yourself aren't a Joey, a Rachel, a Monica, a Chandler, a Ross, or a Phoebe, you definitely know at least one person who is.

1. The Joey

Ahh, Joey, one of the best characters of all time… You can easily find a "Joey" in your friend group seeing as if Joey's personality is kind of one of any stereotypical college boy ever. This type can be spotted in the all-you-can-eat cafeteria all day long, hitting on all of the incoming freshmen and skipping class. But, despite the fact that he will probably try and hit on every girl in your friend group, everyone loves him to death.

2. The Rachel

Giphy

A "Rachel" character, also known in her college years as a Kappa sister, can be found at any Greek Life event. She lives in her sorority house and has so many friends! She is stylish and trendy as heck and is definitely an ambassador for your college town's local boutique.

3. The Monica

Giphy

The "Monica" is definitely the mom-friend. She will go out on the town with her friends but will never be caught drinking because somehow she is always the DD. She will be there to help you get that stain out of your favorite blouse, using her d-i-y stain eraser, or to help pick out a work-out regimen perfect for your lifestyle.

The Chandler

Giphy

A "Chandler" can be caught at any party trying… and failing… at getting girls. He is definitely in a band and every Friday night posts an invite to the bar he is playing at, on his snap story. He is kind of an odd ball with his sense of humor, but no one could live without him.

The Ross

Giphy

The "Ross" is the friend that everyone loves, but never comes around because he is with his girlfriend. He is a double major in Biology and Paleontology, and is a TA for the freshmen Gen-Ed Bio classes. He honestly has the worst luck, but he keeps a good attitude. (Just don't let him go to get a spray tan…)

6. The Phoebe

Giphy

Phoebe is definitely one of my favorites. She is majoring in homeopathic medicine and can be found protesting about animal rights on the quad. She is a vegetarian and makes some incredible chocolate chip cookies. If you are ever feeling down, have her read your aura and she will be able to tell you exactly what is wrong and be able to prescribe an essential oil to fix it.

Here is to 25 more years of laughing with the iconic six.

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.

Fandango

There are a lot of foods in this world, but there is only one dish that stands above the rest: Pizza. If you're close to me or at least know who I am, then you know that I'm totally obsessed with pizza. It's one of my favorite things to eat and I will NEVER turn down a slice, even if it doesn't have my favorite toppings. There isn't a day that goes by where I'm not thinking about pizza. I even sleep with a pizza pillow every night! There are many reasons why pizza stands above all other foods, and here are just a couple reasons why.
