I believe that life should be care-free beyond college graduation. This personal belief of mine is derived from the American sitcom known as ‘Friends.’ That’s right! The show that is about six friends living their nonchalant lives in Manhattan during the late 20th century.
These six friends are known as the princess Rachel Green, the quirky Phoebe Buffay, the high-maintenance Monica Geller, the womanizer Joey Tribbiani, the nerd Ross Geller, and the funny one Chandler Bing. I believe that this sitcom isn’t like any other American sitcom from the past or present, because today everybody, whether they grew up in the 90s or not, is still buzzing about it as it is still relatable to our lives today.
Not much has changed since the series ended in 2004 because all six of these friends are still trying to figure out their lives when they’re all in their mid-twenties, which is around the time after we graduate college. I believe that there are still plenty of people out there today who are in their mid-twenties and they still don’t know what they’re going to do with the rest of their lives like the cast of ‘Friends’ .
I believe that the message the TV show ‘Friends’ sends is that it’s okay to not know you are doing with the rest of your life beyond college as long as you have your friends. Overall, it is okay to still be looking for love, looking for a job, exploring your sexuality, looking for a new place to live, or to be figuring out where the rest of your life is headed.
It is okay to still be a confused college freshman after you graduate because life's too short to be worrying about all of the long-term things all at once. I believe that as long as you have a group of close friends who are going through the same struggles as you then you are all set. Throughout the entire series of ‘Friends’, the whole squad of Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Joey, Ross, and Chandler go through a major emotional roller coaster. Whether it involves everyone winning the lottery together. Ross and Rachel were on a break after their consistent on-and-off relationship.
Or Phoebe deciding to carry triplets for her brother Frank Jr. and his way too old of a wife Alice because they couldn’t have their own children. But despite this getting the best of everyone, in the end, all of them somehow magically come together in order to help each other realize that they will all always be friends. All of them love each other; whether in a romantic way, a bromance type way, or as a best friend. Some morals and beliefs about how life should be should never change, no matter how long ago they were. I believe that no one told you life was going to be this way.
