My best friends are awesome. I couldn’t ask for better ones. College is really where you find out who your true friends are and who your “friends” are. As Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” This is what friends are supposed to do and mine have always done that. It just means that they will always push you to do your best and they help make you a better person. I made a list of eight things that I found true when searching and figuring out who your true best friends are.
1. You sing together in the car
High School Musical 2 song comes on, "Gotta Go My Own Way", and one of you is Gabriella and the other is Troy and you pour your heart and soul into that song. And then you have to hit every high note and laugh about it because your voice doesn’t go that high. You make fun of each other but all in love.
2. You’re each other’s person
Like Meredith and Christina from Grey’s Anatomy, you’re always there for each other. If you don’t like this particular girl then she doesn’t like her either. Like Meredith said about Christina, “If I murdered someone, she’s the person I’d call to help me drag the corpse across the living rooms floor.”
3. They always tell the truth (emphasizing the always).
Even if you don’t wanna hear the truth they tell you anyway because they care and want the absolute best for you. You might get mad but wouldn’t you rather know the truth? Going along with this is keeping each other’s secrets.
4. You’re each other’s personal stylist.
Shopping, makeup, getting ready, etc. can take a lot of patience. Your best friend knows what style isn’t yours or what color doesn’t look right. She’ll do your makeup for you when you ask because she wants you to look as beautiful as ever even though she’ll tell you that you don’t need makeup to look pretty but she’ll do it anyway because she knows it will make you feel better about yourself.
5. You don’t need to spend money to have fun (this is my favorite).
They say money comes and goes but friendship is forever. I like this because I agree and this is how I see friendship. You and your friend are spontaneous and can think of things to do that cost little to no money. Order a pizza and rent a $1 movie from Redbox. Or go to the grocery store and make yourselves a dinner/dessert. Coordinate ideas and the two of you will come up with something.
6. Always have time for each other (this is important).
You have always been there for each other so if one of you gets a new boyfriend and forget about the people that have been there for you that’s petty and wrong.
7. You can be sarcastic.
I added this is because I am 100 percent sarcastic. It’s good to have a friend to give it right back to you.
8. You push each other to be better.
You want to see each other to succeed and avoid being hurt so you tell them when it’s time to break up with that jerk of a boyfriend. You are always open, up-front and honest.
