As my high school graduation approached people filled my head with so many thoughts.
"You're about to enter the best 4- years of your life!"
"College is a big wakeup call from high school!"
"You will meet all new people and forget about your friends from home!"
I hated hearing that last one.
How could the people I have grown so close to over the past 18 years just not be in my life anymore?
The summer my friends first left for college I was nervous. I thought everyone would find better lives and we wouldn't be close anymore. But the first break we all had home together I realized these girls would be in my life forever and I am forever grateful to have such great people in my life.
I have known some of my friends from home since our first day of kindergarten.
We grew up together. We spent countless hours playing outside, putting on dance routines and becoming apart of each other's families. I have some of my first memories with these girls, memories that are irreplaceable.
Others I met along the way as I was discovering who I was as a person. Whether it was awkward middle school years or through the stress of high school classes. These girls have seen me at my lowest and been there to celebrate my highs.
Although going away to college has been one of the best experiences so far, I can never forget my roots.
Talking to my friends from him gives me a little reminder of home on rough days. No one else can truly appreciate your embarrassing stories from junior year and laugh about them like your friends from home.
My friends from home have been in my life for such a long time we can talk about nearly anything without thinking twice about it. We have become so comfortable with each other that nothing is off the table to talk about. Ever.
We can sit in my bed for hours doing absolutely nothing, barely talking but it is your company which matters the most. I'd rather be bored doing nothing with you guys next to me rather than doing that from our own separate homes.
You guys never fail to surprise me.
We do some crazy things when we are together which only make for better stories to be told in the future.
Our dip nights are always the best nights. The seven of us sitting around a kitchen table with chips and 5 different types of dips, stuffing our faces and laughing.
As we have all gone our separate ways we may not talk as much as we did or be as involved in each others' lives. But we have made it so far, through so many birthdays, high school events, graduation, nearly two years of college and you all are still such a huge part of my life.
When I come home for a break I look forward to seeing you guys the most.
We have all made new friends and created new lives, but you guys will always be my forever friends.
