Here-Yee, Here-Yee! Come One, Come All!
Come all...Seriously.
It is winter. Welcome!
I write you today in hopes that you take my words and apply them to your daily lives. Winter is no joke and can get pretty brutal, BUT you can handle this as long as you follow these simple suggestions.
Winter has come!
The trees are frozen from the below freezing temperatures, shorts are tucked back into our summer bins (hopefully), and people aren't making the best decisions. Due to some of the recent forecasts and winter advisories, I think we all need a small refresher to get our winter brain juices flowing so we make some rational decisions.
Please do not go outside in shorts, flip-flops, or wet hair. Also, I might add for the daring ladies and gentleman, please do not go outside in your bathing suit to post on your Instagram OR for some radio station challenge. It's cold and in lot's of places, there is snow on the ground. The mornings are starting out below freezing. You will get frostbite and lose a toe or two. Those are some freezing cold facts! Your physical health is more important and we ask you to do your best not to get frostbite. No one want's a black toe. Please and thank you.
Please bundle up. When you walk outside, no matter how tough you are, you are going to get cold. You are not a cat, dog, or other furry creature so please wear the appropriate attire when going outside and traveling so you stay warm during these ridiculously cold days. We are not in the Bahamas.
Please, salt your driveways for snow and ice. Yes, it's fun to slip and slide on the ice but when your boss calls Monday morning you better start chiseling because you have places to be.
While we are on the subject of ice and snow, if you are not equipt to handle driving in winter weather, DON'T! DO NOT go outside and do donuts in your local business parking lots. You will run into their storefront or slam the side of your car or a fire hydrant. Not a roulette game I would want to take my chances at. Also, if you are equipt please make sure you are driving with caution not only for yourself but for others around you.
Please try and get all the snow off your cars before you begin your travels. Frozen snow flying off your windshield and the roof of your car is not cool to the people around you. Please also make sure your car is fully defrosted so you can see out of ALL of your windows, especially your blind spots. Keep it in check people.
My last request but crtainly not the least important is that you use your common sense. It's cold so grab a jacket or two. The roads are slick so tread lightly. Be prepared for all emergencies whether it's your pipes freezing, your hot water going out, or the power going out.
I could go on with endless reminders but the main idea is to have layers, water, food, blankets, flashlight, a fully charged phone, alcohol and some sense. We will get through this winter!
