There's a song from "Wicked,"that says, "You'll be with me, like a handprint on my heart. And now whatever way our stories end, I know you have rewritten mine, by being my friend..." I cannot think of better song lyrics to describe how it feels when a friend transfers schools. I am a strong believer that everyone is placed in your life for a purpose, and that each person will leave a special mark on our hearts.

1. The memories we made I will always cherish.

Between the coffee dates, the walks home, the vent sessions, printing essays five minutes before class, making sure you showed up for our morning class, laughing like crazy at the smallest things, registering for classes together, cramming for tests and always being there for each other... the memories we’ve made I will always remember. You’ve helped make these past semesters so memorable, and I wouldn't trade that in for anything.

2. I will miss you like crazy.

I will miss having you five minutes away. I will miss being able to walk over and just rant about the most ridiculous parts of my day. I will miss running to class, or awkwardly walking in a few minutes late. I will miss screaming your name across the promenade. I will miss you being on the same campus.

3. There will always be room for you to visit.

Please don't be a stranger, you are always welcome to come and stay a weekend. My home is your home and you'll always be welcomed back with open arms.

4. I will always be cheering you on.

No matter where you are, and what you’re doing, whether it's down the street, or 1,000 miles away I will always be there cheering you on-- every single step of the way.

5. Everything happens for a reason.

Boy, is that true. Your first year wasn't a waste. You learned lessons that you will carry with you, some great and some not so great. The people you've met, the things you've accomplished are part of your plan, and a part of your story. Be thankful for the year you've spent at High Point University. Remember the good, and the bad, but understanding it happened for a reason.

6. Don’t be nervous. People are going to love you.

Stepping onto your new campus, I have one hope for you-- that you continue to be yourself. People are going to love you for you. Your roommates, peers, professors, and teammates are beyond lucky to have you.

7. “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams,” - Eleanor Roosevelt

I hope you always remember that nothing is impossible. I hope that no matter what life throws at you, you continue to preserver and follow your dreams. Remember, you can do it. Trust your heart, follow it. Nothing in life that’s easy is worth doing. Hard work does pay off-- but never let your performance determine your worth. You are successful, smart, beautiful, and funny-- and most importantly, you are loved.

I wish you all the best, and I know you are going to do amazing things. I am excited for you to start this new chapter of your life, and I am so thankful that I can still be a part of it. I will be there, supporting and loving you each and every step.

Good luck kiddo, keep rocking it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
