My Best Friend Is My Soulmate

She's my sidekick.

My Best Friend Is My Soulmate

People often hear the word soulmate and automatically assume you mean the person you intend on marrying. Well, my soulmate is my best friend.

No one else gets you like your best friend does. They are that person you quote ridiculous movies with and there is no judgment. My best friend is also that person I enjoy singing at the top of my lungs with.

Your soulmate is who you want to do everything with and you'll love them forever. I met my best friend my sophomore year of high school, and we still have yet to fight. We see eye to eye on everything and could go days with each other without any time apart and still not have one argument. Respect is key for a great friendship. Many people get jealous when their best friend is with someone else and having fun, but there are boundaries that have to be set. Your soulmate should always be your go-to pal and more importantly your person.

My best friend has not just become a friend, but family. She has been to every single family event and is now pretty much expected. A soulmate is someone you can be with for hours on end doing absolutely nothing, and still enjoying the time of your life. That is exactly what a best friend will do, too. While new friends come in and out of each others' lives, we remain closer and closer as the years go on and we never let anyone interrupt our friendship.

A best friend is someone you can go to willingly and let out your deepest darkest secrets and still have that secure feeling that nothing bad will happen. A best friend is also someone who you can rely on as your sidekick. Any task should never be done alone, always do it together.

While my best friend is not the person I will marry years from now, she will continue to stay my person. The everlasting bond between best friends should be a tight bond. We text more often than any boy's name would ever pop up on our phone screen. Snapchat has become a game to see how long the "streak" will last, and Instagram has been our way of sending hilarious memes back and fourth.

After working together and even calling off to hang out together, it only made us closer. We have had so many adventures in our years together, and it only makes me happy we have many more. I am not sure how my life would be without my best friend, but it would definitely be less spontaneous. Random car rides, doughnut eating sessions, and watching ridiculous movies with you has given me more memories than anyone else.

Every person deserves to have their soulmate. While you have been looking for someone to marry your whole life, maybe your best friend in your soulmate, too. Don't be so certain it is who you are going to marry.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
