The friendships you make in college are truly one of a kind. You're living in literally a five-minute radius of everything: food, classes, parties, and your best friends. I never realized what kind of privilege it was to live with your best friend until it was taken away from me.
While we were both in college, we were inseparable. From getting lunch between classes to dancing at frat parties... we went to everything together. You were my shoulder to cry on and my Netflix binge partner. But once you graduated that all changed, including us.
We went from "I'll see you in a second!" to "Do you have a free weekend next month?" all at once. You're out job hunting in the big girl world now and I'm still shuffling my way across campus to get to class. There is no more making last minute lunch plans as we're getting out of class. I can't call you crying to have you at my door minutes later with ice cream and pink Moscato. We can't get dinner together before chapter every Sunday and we can't sleep next to each other at sisterhood retreat.
But just because this part of our friendship is over, doesn't mean our friendship is. Things are different now and it sucks. We will never have our time spent in college together back and right now we have to go our separate ways while we are both at different stages in our lives. But you can bet a pumpkin spiced latte that you are still, and always will be, my best friend.
I can't wait to join you in the big girl world, even if that does mean I'll have to actually adult.
