On August 15, 1994, the world was graced with one of the best people ever created. His name is Andrew Matthew Edwards and he is my brother. However, he is not just my brother. He is also my best friend and I wouldn't trade him for anything! I just wanted to take time to thank my brother for all of the things he has done for me over the last 19 years we have been together.
The one on the right is my amazing brother! I remember this picture like it was yesterday. We were out getting the last-minute Christmas tree, like we always do, and I forced him to take a selfie with me because I was bored and cold. He makes me feel so happy when I'm with him. He is one of the people I will rarely give a full smile to because of my insecurities with my teeth. He always gives me the confidence to actually smile no matter jacked up I think my teeth are.
This picture was taken at about 3:30 in the morning at the hospital. The reason for the visit was because Andy had a seizure at 1 am and I woke up to him on the ground in extreme pain. An ambulance rushed him to the hospital and we found out he had disjointed both shoulders, broke one shoulder, and chipped the other. In the midst of me having a mental breakdown at 3:30 in the morning, freaking out about what had happened, he turned to me and smiled and at that instant I knew everything was going to be OK. He is a fighter and he always reassures me that things are going to be alright. He gives me the strength I need to get through hard times while also getting himself through hard times. He is a true role model.
This is one of the most iconic things that Andy and I do. We love to take random pictures of each other and eventually just make weird faces at each other. He never takes himself too seriously, which is something I often need to remember. He loves to joke around and make really corny jokes... most of them are really long but sometimes, rarely, they are super funny! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that even when he was in double arm slings he still was trying to take care of the dogs and do things he shouldn't be doing. That shows how much perseverance he has, because even when he can't move his arms, he still pushes through it. He taught me to never give up and I use that lesson every day. I give Andy the credit to why I was offered an RA position. No matter what, Andy will always be there for me; he will give everything he has and then some more. Dear Andy, If you are reading this (which you should be), I want to thank you for everything you do! I love you so much!
