Unlike some people, before I was even born I already had a best friend assigned to me. On the day of my birth, she was there to welcome me with open arms, pure love, and a safe smile.
Everyone isn't lucky enough to have a sister. But those of us that are, can sometimes take it for granted. It wasn't until recently that I looked back and gained such appreciation for all of your love and support through the years.
When I was a kid, the moment I got off the bus in the afternoon you were the first person I saw. Everyday without failure, you waited for me to get off the bus to walk me home and I always got to brag to my friends because they always had to walk with their parents but I was the one with a cool sister waiting for me to get off the bus.
When I got to middle school, I'm pretty sure I drove you kind of crazy. Your clothes would always disappear and then somehow magically reappear in my pile of clothes. I think I would have followed you everywhere if I could.
When I got to high school, our topics of conversation changed, they featured mounds of advice, tons of algebra homework help, a lot of "it's your turn to do the dishes", and advice about college.
Now that I'm older I have this true admiration and respect for you. You've always been the friend I never asked for but I'm truly grateful to have.
