“Boxing, also known as the "Sweet Science", is an age old combat sport and martial art testing one's physical strength, speed, endurance, skill and reflexes as well as mental toughness, determination, dedication and heart.”
-Keppner Boxing Website

If you’ve ever driven down Baxter Street, you’ve driven past a boxing studio that is a home away from home to some of Athens’ most dedicated athletes. Keppner Boxing is a family owned facility that is well known for their passionate coaches and dedicated boxers in the Athens area. Keppner prides itself on their commitment to helping people become the best version of themselves through boxing for fitness or competition. Keppner Boxing also provides a positive and supportive environment for people looking to learn and get in top notch shape without ever having to fight or take a hit. If you’re looking for a way to get involved in the world of boxing, your chance is quickly approaching.

On February 3, 2017, Boxers from the Athens area will be participating in an event known as “Friday Night Fights” at the Athens Arena 280, located off of Commerce Blvd. in Bogart, GA. This event is going to feature several matches between amateur boxers such as Petey (Rachel) Peterson and Octavious Bowens. These two well-known locals are only two of the boxers this evening is going to feature, so make sure you come out to see the entirety of the boxers participating in Friday Night Fights! Not only will this be a great opportunity to come out and support the Athens Boxing community, but it is a venue that is perfect for a fun Friday night out with friends as there will be a full bar and BBQ available on site.

The doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the first match starts at 8:00 p.m. This leaves you time to mingle and enjoy the amenities Friday Night Fights has to offer before sitting down to cheer on the boxers as they take on the ring. This is an event you do not want to miss, so be sure to show up with all of your friends this Friday for a night you’re sure to remember!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
