A Letter To My Freshman Roommate
Steadfast Living

I'll never forget receiving that letter in the mail where I could finally put a face and a name to my random roommate. I remember the nerves I had over the summer when we were trying to figure out what color we wanted our room to be, or what kind of decorations we wanted. We've come quite a long way from that and I am forever grateful for you.

I'm thankful for your willingness to always help me pick out outfits and ALWAYS give me a straight up answer. Thank you for never letting me leave the dorm looking awful.

I'm glad I have you to accompany when I want McDonald's breakfast first thing in the morning, or even when I want Steak 'n Shake at bizarre hours of the night.

Thank you for sitting around for hours and doing homework with me. A majority of the time it's a struggle to get stuff done because we get distracted, but writing papers is a lot more fun when you have someone to write them with.

I'm grateful for you and our random dance parties. Coming back to the dorm hearing music blaring, is the greatest thing.

I appreciate you never judging me no matter what. Never judging when sometimes life gets hard and I just want to cry and give up.

I'm thankful you're only a phone call away and I know you'll always answer the phone when I need you no matter what time of day and no matter how silly the request, you're always there.

I'm glad you're my home away from home. It's like coming home and having someone there waiting for you to talk about my day.

Thanks for always sharing the same appreciation of Facebook dog and cat videos that I have. I swear we could sit around for hours doing "homework", but ending up sharing dog videos.

It's crazy to think I could have so much in common with a random roommate who eventually became like family. I'm eternally grateful for you and your friendship you have given.

I'm sure, like me, many of you received lots of gift cards over the holidays. After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
