How did I survive 18 years of my life without you?

A Thank You To My Freshman Year Girl Gang And Future Bridesmaids

As this school year comes to a close, I can’t even imagine what it's going to be like not having my girl gang along side me 24/7 like it was the past nine months. After finals are over, we will have to endure three long months apart.

For some reason, the girls you meet your first year of college are extremely special. One week, you don’t even know their name, and the next week, you can probably tell a stranger about their likes and dislikes, their boy drama, their food preferences, their family life, and even where they got the clothes they were wearing yesterday. They could easily do the same for you.

You don’t know how it happens or when it happens, but something clicks, and as cheesy as it sounds, it was meant to be. You have a lifelong friendship within weeks of meeting.

To my personal girl gang,

Most importantly, thank you for all the clothes you let me wear. I don’t know what I’m going to do with only one closet for a while instead of eight. Thank you also, for having such good style. I got way too many compliments on clothes that weren’t mine, so thanks for that. I also learned some good fashion tips, like “less Gap and more Forever 21." Thank you also for always returning clothes back to me the day after, never losing them or getting them dirty. That’s when you know it’s real.

Can’t forget all the late night pizza orders or jimmy johns delivery on a Tuesday at 2 a.m. just because. Thank you for always putting in money for pizza — teamwork makes the dream work! We need to make sure we continue with those into next year.

Thank you, because I’m not sure if I would have made it back home some nights without you guys. Having a girl gang like this means no one goes out alone, no one walks home alone, and no one goes to the bathroom alone. Sticking together is not only safe and fun but then you don’t have 10 girls running around a frat house all calling each other trying to find one another.

Thanks, (I think?), for waking me up from my naps when you guys would go eat because you knew I wouldn’t eat alone. As much as it sucks to be woken up from a nap, at least I didn’t have to eat alone.

Thank you for the weekly popcorn and chick-flick movies nights. Sometimes you just need a good cry, and I’m glad we could all experience those nights together.

Thank you that even after the hardest days, I could come home and be laughing within seconds of walking in the door. We knew when each other needed space, needed someone to talk to, needed to cry or just needed some ice cream. I can't tell you how many times when one of us had a bad day, we would all pile in one car and drive to get ice cream super late at night. One moment you hate the world and the next you're jammed packed into a car with nine other girls singing, laughing and eating ice cream. Those kind of nights were my favorite.

Last but not least, thank you for being the most amazing girl gang. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and I can't imagine my life without you. Thank you for becoming a lifelong friend and my future bridesmaids after a week of meeting. I don’t know if it was luck or fate that put us together, but one thing I do know is God blessed me with more than I could ever ask for.

Cheers to the last nine months full of so many memories, laughs and stories... as people always say, the best is yet to come.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
