Your freshman year is one of the most awaited moments of your young life. There is so much anticipation and excitement for what is to come! This is your first taste of freedom and finally getting to see what living without your parents is like. So many things to look forward to like the dorms and dorm food in all of their glory! No worries though, the cast of Monsters Inc. is here to walk you through the most wild, stressful and memorable year of your life!

1. Orientation

This is your first real taste of life in the college bubble! You register for classes, get your housing assignments and get a feel for the campus. The fact that you will be here in a few short months is terrifying and enticing both at the same time! It really sinks in that you in fact have made it this far, and will spend the rest of your time back home counting down the days till you can return.

2. Move in day

You're feeling good! You've got on your killer new orientation shirt and it's day one of your new found freedom. Your parents just dropped you off and you're ready for your crazy college experience to finally begin! Granted, you have absolutely no friends at this school, no plans and you barely know your roommate, but let the fun begin!

3. Starting off strong

At the start of the school year is when you're the most motivated. Classes haven't picked up yet and you're in that honeymoon phase where you envision yourself making a 4.0, attending all of your classes and being in the best shape of you life! No freshman 15 for you!

About 2 weeks into the school year...

4. First night out

You're starting to get the hang of things! You have joined a club or organization and made some friends -- time to hit the town. You notice all of the cute upperclassman and put on your hottest outfit and break out your coolest dance moves in hopes of catching someone's eye on the dance floor.

5. Realization that classes are hard

After syllabus week passes and you've spent the past few nights going out with your friends, you realize that this whole college thing might be a little tougher than you imagined. Classes and your extracurricular activities begin to pick up, and you experience your first all-nighter. 8AM's become optional and you start to calculate how many classes you can miss before it effects your grade.

6. Finals week

The infamous finals week is among you and you no longer can mess around and put off the work you never got around to. Your body is fighting the urge to procrastinate and fighting back by packing yourself full of coffee and energy drinks. The limited sleep you already had is even more slim, and you can look forward to more all-nighters and lots and lots of cramming on things you never learned.

Walking out of finals week like...

7. When you go on break and have to leave your friends

You can let out a sigh of relief because the torturous finals week is finally over. However the celebration is short lived because suddenly everyone is packing up and leaving town. These people you just met a few months ago you can't imagine your life let alone six weeks without! Sadly, you are headed back to live with your parents, and hangout with people you haven't spoken to or seen since graduation. The break from school is nice but separation anxiety is a very real thing.

8. Back in action for spring semester

The longest break of your entire life is over and all of your favorite people are finally back in one place! You waste no time celebrating the arrival and use these next few months more as a countdown to spring break than anything else. You have learned from your many mistakes first semester, and have somewhat become wiser from them. You and your pals are ready to finish freshman year with a bang!

9. Facing responsibilities

As freshman year comes to a close, you are slammed with responsibilities for the upcoming years. Classes become more major specific and summer plans need to be defined. Parking passes, meal plans and tuition are just of a few of the things you have to look forward to. You get to move out of the dorms (praise the Lord), but now need to know who you are living with and where. Occasionally you will feel during this year that you are being thrown at a brick wall (maybe literally) and that your life is falling apart, this may be one of those times. Although things may be getting tough, you are so close to being done! You have made it this far and will make it to the finish line even if it is by crawling your way there.

10. Coming back in the fall
Fall has arrived which means you get to return back to your favorite place! Unfortunately you are no longer the shiny new things on campus, and have been replaced by naive newbies with hope in their eyes who know no pain. You anxiously await their arrival and scout any potential ones who might be boyfriend material. You have moved on up and just like everyone else, you are now considered old. Now is the time where you have to start getting serious and actually have somewhat of your life figured out.

Freshman year has flown by, and it doesn't slow down from there. Soon you will no longer be in just intro courses, and have the pressure of internships and resumes resting on your shoulders. I truly believe you learn more in your freshman year of college than you did in any of the four years of high school. This is your first and last time to experience this year, so seize every opportunity and live everyday with the same level of excitement as Mike Wazowski on the first day of classes!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
