Freshman year is all about learning new things about yourself and that includes how you manage living in a dorm room and being on your own. There's nothing better than jumping off the edge that first week and going head first and seeing where you land.

But regardless of where you land, during your flight, I promise that these 11 thoughts will cross your mind!

"Whoa, where did all these guys come from?"

Giphy

For some reason, my hometown population of guys just got increasingly smaller. It's as if it turned into a puddle compared to this ocean of boys that college has to offer all of the sudden. SCORE!!

"Wait, which room is mine again?"

Giphy

Nothing is worse than walking into the wrong dorm room your first week. But hey, you can always play it off like you meant to do it and just introduce yourself. Own It

*Sees dorm room for the first time* "Wow, so much room for activities!"

Giphy

Haha. That's cute.

*Sees your hall mates after that "Welcome Freshman" party*

Giphy

That jungle juice made everyone seem like they're your new best friend so naturally, hugs for everyone!!!

"Wait, why did I pick such a BIG school?!"

Giphy

Yeah, let me HIKE across the Drillfield from Pritchard to NCB. OR just hike anywhere at Tech — it's that big.

*Goes to first class* *Comes Back to dorm room*

Giphy

Who said that college was fun? I just wanna talk

"Do people actually use signs to tell their mates that they can't come in?"

Giphy

It's always funny to see one roomie sitting in the hall waiting for a guest to leave their room. Or better yet, when you hear someone yell "Get out!" because the other one didn't get the memo.

"Dude, I thought I was going to miss home cooked meals."

Giphy

You might as well get used to lying to your momma because there's no way you can miss a home cooked meal when you go to Virginia Tech. Best. Food. Ever.

"How does one flirt in college?"

Giphy

Seriously? How does it work?

"Damn, I really should have hit that summer work out that I saved on Pinterest."

Giphy

I thought I was in shape but I guess all the IG models decided to come to Virginia Tech this year because I swear I'm the only potato.

"Wait, it's only been one week?"

Giphy

the first week goes by so fast but so slow at the same time. I would say it changes but... well, good luck Charlie.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
