Freshly Brewed Hosts Winter Concert

Indianapolis, Indiana—Butler's all-female a cappella group Freshly Brewed will host its winter concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, in the Atherton Union Reilly Room. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at Starbucks from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the week of the event. Tickets can also be purchased for $7 at the door.

The show has a two-hour runtime and will include an opening act. More details on the official opener will be available at a later date. The event is appropriate for all ages and is open to the public. Seating is general admission and handicap accessible.

The concert will feature a collection of 14 songs from a variety of genres. Notable songs include Toto's "Africa" and "Lady Marmalade" by Christina Aguilera. Butler's all-male a cappella group Out of The Dawg House will be joining Freshly Brewed for a special performance of NSYNC's "Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays" medley.

President Sara Lopez, Music Director Lauren Pfeil, Business Director Hannah Willmore, Treasurer Leanna Kerbs, Social Media Directors Liz Erickson and Addie Howell, Print Media Director Chloe Marsh, and the remaining members of Freshly Brewed rehearse twice a week all semester solely for this event.

"We've been working really hard by putting in hours of time and effort to make this the best show it can be," Willmore said. "We have so much fun together and I think that is evident when we perform."

Freshly Brewed hosts two performances every school year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The women also perform the National Anthem at Butler Men's Basketball games. Aside from university events, Freshly Brewed has performed at Indianapolis Indians baseball games, Indy Fuel hockey games, State Farm conventions, the Indianapolis International Airport, the Yelp Convention, and at the Commemoration for Victims of Domestic Violence.

Founded in 2006, Freshly Brewed is Butler University's only all-women a cappella group. It arranges its own music to feature a variety of songs that showcase all talents. The women of Freshly Brewed volunteer for cancer awareness and sexual assault awareness events around Indianapolis.
