What Kind Of New Beginning Are You Searching For?

Ahhhhh, a new beginning, what a freeing feeling. To me, a new beginning feels like sitting in the sand, watching the ocean crash into the shore. Each time the waves crash, it clears the shore of it’s remains and the sand is clean all over again. A new beginning is a fresh sheet of paper, a tank full of gas, or the first word written with a new pen.

It always seems like something dramatic needs to end to have a new beginning but in all reality, every single morning we open our heavy eyes, we awake to a completely new day filled with exciting opportunity and a chance to show the world who we really are. If you did something really stupid yesterday that made you want to shove your head inside a paper bag, that is all erased when the bright sun rises the next day. And why would you choose to remember it when 99% of the people who saw you mess up, can’t even remember what they ate for breakfast? Instead, choose to wake up refreshed and in place of reminding yourself about all the bad from yesterday, think about all the good that can happen today and the same amount of chance you have to make things go the way you want them to.

Use each and every opportunity for a new beginning and never think that one time is better than another. Our lives sail past our eyes in a snap and the last regret you should have is a missed opportunity. Life goes on but not for long. Learning to move past an unpleasant experience is something that takes courage and maturity. Never forget that leaving something behind always brings along something fresh. Adventure is waiting and theres never a wrong time to pursue a calling.

What kind of new beginning are you searching for? A new beginning can be different to lots of people. It can be something as small as a minor class change of something large like a job switch or the loss of a loved one. No matter the size, a clean slate is there and starting again is so liberating. Just remember that everything comes down to you and you have the power to recreate your life. No one has control over your life and starting over is an awesome place to begin healing or empowerment.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
