Let's be honest ladies, the first thing we do when we get home is take off that damn bra. The one that has been digging into you, straps falling and constricting your boobs so you'll look "presentable." Now if you are one of the lucky ones who have found a bra that you literally can't feel, GO BUY THEM ALL, because it's like finding the fountain of youth. When we were younger we thought that wearing a bra was so cool and adult, but just like we found out about driving and shaving our legs, it's not worth it. Why should we wear bras? Is there some law that says you must wear a bra at all times in public, because please take my non-bra wearing, Walmart shopping, class attending ass to jail if there is. I don't like blaming society for our mistakes, but I'm blaming society for the reason women wear bras. I know that back when bras were invented it was probably because women wanted their breasts to be out of the way during work, but then somehow it turned it to bra wearing 24/7. I go to class, grocery shopping, every day when I get home, during chapter, and sometimes at work I go bra-less. I've never felt more free when bra-less.
Sure you can think I'm just trying to tell the world that bras are stupid, but let's throw some science in there. A French scientist conducted a fifteen year study with 330 women to prove that bras make your boobs saggy. Yes, the scientist is a man and has probably never worn a bra before (lucky), but he found evidence that bras aren't necessary. His study does state that younger women should stop wearing bras because his research found no change in women 35 and older. So let your boobs explore the gravitational pull and you can have a 7-mm nipple difference than those who wear a bra. I remember my mom saying that I should sleep in my bra to prevent my boobs from reaching my knees, luckily I didn't need science to realize that it's more comfortable to sleep bra-less.
I honestly tried googling why you should wear a bra and all I found before I gave up were articles about women written by women on how they went bra-less, and the above article. There's probably plenty of good reasons like not having them smack in your face during a workout, and etc.
I understand if you have big boobs, small boobs, medium boobs, or boobs and wanting to wear a bra go for it, but if you want to #freetheboobies you shouldn't feel self conscious about it. Just do it, you can gradually work from Walmart in a big t-shirt to at the office in a blouse. There's nothing better than being able to walk around in a hoodie bra-less, or even around your house in a just a bra and shorts. Do you, boo and don't worry about people staring at your beautiful self. National No Bra Day is October 13 and I'll be celebrating along with these ladies.
