Freedom is a song that i will always sing

Learning to embrace freedom and love your new found hope.

Freedom is a song that i will always sing
Sara Radabaugh

Freedom is where I have found myself. When my heart beats for change, I announce that I have been forgiven. Never do I desire to set my sight on nothing, but instead, I desire to be apart of everything. My soul is free and forgiven and I am not looking back. Freedom is seen on a face which loves unconditionally. It is the face that loves life more and more every day. Freedom is designed to set you apart from the average human being. It is meant to make a mark on the world. Stop and think about it. This is the silence before the chains are broken.

As chains break, we are set free. Convince yourself that you have been free. It is a mindset that you must be willing to adapt too. Never do you need to look back and study the past. Focus on today, tomorrow, the next day and so on. Study the smooth rhythm while marching on. What you see is your reality. Reality is something that we refuse to see. Imagine if your reality was a weight being thrown off a bridge to be never seen again. Take the shackles that bruise your weary skin and set them aside. Brace yourself for a new tomorrow that is full of hope, peace, and happiness. Simplicity and contentment bring alongside freedom and will radiate within you.

Freedom is beauty. She is standing tall and elegantly brushing her grace upon those who wish to join in on this pledge. Don't stand down in any given situation. Rather, look fear in the eyes and blissfully laugh as if you don't notice the flaw. Life is truly something that we are guilty of abusing. It's given to us and rightfully so, it can be taken away. Don't let your time on earth be a slate of hate. We have the opportunity to join the freedom rage, but you must be willing to take the risk. The risk is something that comes with a larger-than-life reward. Freedom is the reward that hugs a sulking soul.

Freedom is the song that I sing. I am forgiven. I am loved. I am unique. I am simply who I am meant to be. Freedom is to be heard when you speak from your heart. Your heart is beating because you have loved and you are loved. I like to think that my life is wrapped in never-ending scripture that saves me. Ultimately, freedom is a blanket that protects those who fight for justice. Justice is often times overlooked as something more than being equal. In all reality, it is more simple than you might want to believe. It is an act of mercy. Be merciful and be willing to forgive. You cannot hold freedom captive from those who are craving the essence of it. Be the one who sets freedom free. Be the reason that individuals get to experience relief.

Take a grip on freedom, and let it roar.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
