How To Get Free Stuff All Of The Time

I am about to be a broke college student because I spend most of the money I make on food, clothing, and concerts. Over the years of attempting to save up money to become said broke college student I have acquired the skill of getting stuff for free. As I am sure many of my fellow college students are in a similar boat, I decided that I have decided to compile a list of the easiest ways to get stuff for free (if not for really, really cheap).

1. Sign up for rewards programs

If you have a Starbucks habit then that habit will continue and you will go broke, but there is a way to prevent that brokenness for at least a few more drinks. The easiest way to receive free food from your favorite places is signing up for rewards programs and taking punch cards. At Starbucks, you receive a free drink (any size and any drink) after 125 stars or roughly $63. So, after about 15 drinks you could be getting a free drink. Other stores have punch cards where, after every ten or twelve purchases you get free food. Take advantage of free food.

2. Sign up for programs that provide free stuff

I have been a member of several different programs that provide free stuff and only two have really panned out. Usually these programs will make you fill out a few surveys and then based on your answers you will qualify for free stuff every few months. Although I have received a ton of junk emails, I have also received everything from a free Keurig 2.0 to free makeup. Every so often, you will get useful free things from these programs. The two that I have actually gotten free stuff from are Influenster and PINCHme.

3. Troll Free and For Sale groups at your college

Most colleges have “Free and For Sale” groups on Facebook for students to get rid of the stuff that they have purchased but no longer need because they are graduating or have no place to store it over the summer. You can often find furniture for free or for very little and appliances for almost nothing.

4. Take advantage of birthday freebies

Many restaurants and stores give out freebies on your birthday. Starbucks gives you a free drink on your birthday if you are a member of their rewards program and Sephora gives you free makeup if you make a purchase near your birthday. On and around your birthday, look for local restaurants and stores that will give you free stuff and take advantage of it.

5. Use coupons and stack them

I’m not saying that you should become an extreme couponer by any means, but often you can stack up to 3 coupons at stores. Victoria’s Secret, for example, will often have free lingerie as well as free tote or water bottle campaigns going on at once. By using both codes you can get multiple free things at once. Postmates often has free delivery as well as the occasional free bubble tea campaigns and thus both the drink and delivery are free.

6. Go to events promising free things

Often, events provide goody bags of samples or free foor or free tee shirts. If you have free time, attend these events. Career fairs, club fairs, and things like marathons also often have various booths with assorted free goods (a lot of which is crap, but sometimes you can find food or something useful).

7. Look online at brand promotions

When a brand creates a new product they will often provide a few samples, so that customers can try it out so that they will later be inclined to buy it late. You can often find toiletries and food samples through this process. If you’re a fan of stickers, many companies give out stickers so that you can help them promote their brand. New companies will often give out their products when they first launch and all that you have to do is pay for shipping.

Now, go out and prevent yourself from becoming broke for just a little bit longer.

Creating your schedule for the upcoming semester can be an exciting process. You have the control to decide if you want to have class two-days a week or five-days a week. You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
