A few weeks ago, I received an email from Live Nation titled "Free Jorja Smith Tickets!"

At first, I thought it was a scam so I clicked through it without reading the contents of the email, but later that day, something told me to actually open the email, and when I did, I instantly burst out in tears. The email told me that in exchange for a promotional post, I would receive two tickets to the Jorja Smith & Kali Uchis concert.

Jorja Smith is my idol, so you can imagine how many tears were shed that night.

I spend the latter part of my week daydreaming about the concert (no, really, I would actually dream about it) and wondering what songs she would perform. I wasn't as familiar with all of Kali Uchis' songs, but I was super excited to see her too!

When April 30th came around, I was so excited. Not only did I run through the venue with my friend to get as close to the stage as possible, but I also skipped dinner so that we could get a good spot on the floor, and for those who know me--you know that's a BIG deal.

Jorja came out at 8 p.m. and when I tell you that she was even more beautiful in person, I MEAN IT.

I have never been in the presence of a human THAT BEAUTIFUL in my entire 20 years of life on this earth. I swear, I need that woman's skincare routine because all I can say is wow. Her voice was just as beautiful as she was and I felt tears fill my eyes when she performed all of my favorite songs.

She inspired me with her performance and made me want to embrace all of my talents that much more.

Kali was just as mesmerizing and gave us bad bitch vibes mixed with soft vibratos.

She and Jorja together are a force to be reckoned with, and I am beyond thankful that I got to experience it. Those free tickets not only provided me with a quality performance, but they also gave me one of the best nights of my life

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
