With our impending doom coming so closely, I thought I'd bring some justice to the democracy we once loved. In our 239 years as a county, we've overcome a lot of barriers. Through consenting the right to speak our opinions and allowing those unable to afford a lawyer, to have provided. Blacks and women can vote, and gay marriage is legal. There's some things that still need to be worked on, but we have come so far.
And please don't lose sight of that with Black Tuesday approaching so closely.
Chances are, that for the next four years, we will be hearing "I told you so"s and "that why I didn't vote for them". It's unlikely we will go a day without hearing about the bad things our new president has done, while others praise and justify the actions. It's going to be intense. Differences we want might not pass congress while petty laws on traffic infractions will be praised. It's going to be hard, making through each day with governmental scrutiny and heated feelings of anger throughout the population.
Fortunately, we will still be America. I know it's scary to think of the new things that will come with the election results this Tuesday, but remember, that we will make it through. Chances are nothing will get passed by either candidate, and that they will be either impeached or booted out as 2020 comes, and Kayne takes over. We will still have our freedoms, and opportunities, just with a glorified baby child in office. Our country will still be America, it might just become those years in a future textbook that "we don't talk about".
I have faith our country will make it through. I have faith that I will still be able to vote as a female. I have faith I will still have the freedom to speak my mind, bringing me to admit:
I begin to celebrate Christmas the day after Halloween
I know that's a hard pill to swallow, but that's just the beginning...
IÂ dislike Halloween
Pie is so better than cake
Hocus Pocus scares me and I haven't seen it since I was 6 years old
Pizza isn't all that great.
I work as a telefund representative and I love my job
I love brocoli
Disney songs can get annoying to me
Coffee and the smell of it is repulsive
I don't order breakfast at Perkins most of the time
Celery is the worst food ever
Dumbledore and Snape were truly horrible characters
Vegetarianism is actually really difficult
Even evil people change the world in good ways
Happiness isn't a choice, but allowing yourself to be happy can be
Banana laffy taffies are the shit
Geometric proofs are actually really fun
So are verifying identities
Nutella is gross
And finally...
Crunchy is better than smooth
I've stated it, and honestly, it feels good. We're lucky enough to have lived in a country that values the opinions of others, and I'm hoping we can keep that spirit going as our country enters turmoil this upcoming Tuesday. Remember, our situation may not be ideal, but we still have the right to be free in our country. The next four years may be hell, but we have the opportunity to say that and things related, unlike many "civilized" countries today.
Beyond that, we have so many other freedoms. Freedom to work where we want, have a family without restrictions, and wear the clothing we feel best in. Our rights are protected under law, and our homes will not be searched for faulty claims. I can eat what I want and be where I want to be, and know that I am free.
Stay strong my friends. We will make it through this. The president is a single person amongst our population of 300,000+ million. And in the mean time, remember you are allowed to say that our future president will be horrible, without the fear of death.
