Dear Franklin Street realtors,
The shock. The denial. The anger. The bargaining. The depression. And finally... the acceptance. When Artisan Pizza Kitchen left Franklin Street, I went through the five stages of grief. It was the only good pizza place close to campus. The only slice of pizza that was at least reminiscent to the pies I was used to back home in New York. But I guess you get the love you think you deserve, as the quote goes, and so we lost APK and got the monstrosity that is Lotsa.
Don't get me wrong, pizza is not hard to come by on Franklin AT ALL. But none of it is good. And looking at the upcoming openings of more pizza chains on Franklin Street is just depressing to the students on campus without cars. We already have sub-par pizza chains! Where is the variety?
Here are just some suggestions for the kinds of restaurants that should be on Franklin:
1. Italian Food
Pizzeria in the front, restaurant in the back. Real pasta dishes. New York-style pizza. Please.
3. Dunkin' Donuts
America runs on Dunkin'! Plus there is nothing quite like an iced coffee from this java joint.
4. Bojangles
Even those of us without cars should have access to this amazing cajun chicken (plus all my friends know how I feel about chicken biscuits)!
5. Cook Out
Greasy food galore. We need it.
6. Somewhere to get a nice ol' salad
Yes I know Tru has salads, but another salad place just seems necessary. We need to be healthy too! And I swear to God if another acai bowl place pops up, I might just spontaneously combust.
7. A taco place
I wouldn't be mad if it just so happened to be taco bell, but I think any taco place would be an excellent addition to our cute lil college town.
So Franklin Street realtors, these are just a couple (pretty good options). Just please please please please listen to the people. We do not need another pizza place. Especially another bad one.
